Lesson 2: Editing Basic Pages: Block Quotes

The Block Quote button [] lets you format a block of text (one or more paragraphs) as a block quote. The standard Georgia Tech Institute Communications styles are utilized.

Due to a small bug in CKEditor, the actual quote marks will not show when editing content, but they will be added when the page is viewed normally. Please do not manually add them in or you will end up with two sets of quote marks!

Because block quotes are styled with the leading and trailing quote marks. Citations must be placed outside the blockquote object. The easiest thing to do is to enter them like so:

This is a quote.

       – George P. Burdell

That is seven spaces followed by a hyphen, a space, and the citation. To create the wide hyphen, see the page in this tutorial about the Special Character selector (the Omega button).
