Enter Drupal 8

  • Drupal version 8 was released in November of 2015, but developers knew it was coming for several years prior

  • Drupal 8 was a major rebuilding of the core engine and core APIs (Application Programming Interfaces)

    • This meant that all existing modules and themes for Drupal 7 would need a lot of updating to work with Drupal 8

    • No in-place upgrade path to Drupal 8. Must install a new site and then import old content.

  • First sites in Drupal 8 were launched in March of 2017, and over the summer of 2018, I got all six school websites upgraded.
